    Fulcrum has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Linux System Administrator with basic Windows competency to join our growing PRIME contract supporting the prestigious Naval Research Laboratory or NRL.  Located near the beautiful National Harbor in our Nation’s capital, this program is looking specifically for the combination of an Operational Linux SME with Research & Development or R&D experience.

    Responsibilities

    As the first Senior Linux System Administrator on our new program, the Senior Linux System Administrator should come equipped and ready to configure, administer, and secure a variety of Linux based servers, workstations and desktops in a high-performance computing environment.     The Senior Linux System Administrator will provide full-cycle System support as follows:

     

    • Configuration, administration and maintenance support of HPC Linux based servers, workstations and Desktops while maintaining compliance with appropriate DoD Standard Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) & Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert Bulletin (IAVA/B) requirements.
    • Building and applying application and system patches, via local and remote installation as deemed necessary for optimal operational integrity and incidence response.
    • Research and test a variety of new hardware and/or software products to ascertain compatibility with current and future information systems environments, possessing the ability to capture and document testing and evaluation procedures, and formulate the results into a written analysis support found outcomes and recommendations.
    • Provide documentation support, writing or updating user help guides, and other reports as necessary.
    • Participate in the C&A process for all supported systems to include but not limited to: creating STIG Checklists, tracking and resolution of vulnerabilities present on all systems, documenting systems, services, port and protocols in use, software, hardware and network diagrams, and creating and maintaining Plan of Action Milestones (POA&M).

     

     

    Qualifications

    A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator in an enterprise environment to include:

    • Configuration and management of Red Hat Enterprise & Ubuntu Servers, including but not limited to Kernel patching, updates, backups and incident recovery.
    • Implementation and Management of new and existing Directory Services, Active Directory and LDAP instances and other associated access / directory services.  
    • Implementation and management of Common Access Card (CAC) log-in system for authentication, access and auditing management.
    • Installation of new, updating existing and overall maintenance of office user desktop environment, including but not limited to common desktop applications, print or other device drivers, malware detection and removal, AV and other typical, common office user applications.  
    • Implementation and administration of new, and repurposing of existing desktops and laptops servers to maintain appropriate departmental (ITD) application baseline, compliance and certifications, as necessitated to be added to the NRL NiceNet network.
    • Experience managing both physical and VMware servers and desktop infrastructure in accordance with the DoD STIG and IAVA/B specifications for the associated environment.
    • Managing and configuring, Directory Services in a heterogeneous environment, DNS servers, Web servers running Red Hat, SE Linux and other OS varieties.
    • Ability to configure and manage all aspects of network configuration and maintenance for linux servers, workstations and desktops as well as switches, routers and basic firewalls. Capable of configuring and managing subnets and vlans, with ability to troubleshoot, isolate and correct networking problems and incidents.
